EXCELLENT Based on 26 reviews Posted on Google Nick AddisonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Thank you Nick for taking the time to write a review about my dog walking services - I appreciate it. Scooby is a truly unique dog with a unique and endearing personality. I'm constantly amazed by how he negotiates life with such joy and enthusiasm and a love of all people and dogs. Then when you take into account that he's deaf - you realise that he truly has a wonderful indomitable spirit and serves as an example to we mere humans as to how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Oh and I almost forgot to say that I noticed whilst on my walks with him that he has another ability - to make people smile! Who wouldn't love a dog like Scooby!?Posted on Google Maddy MacdonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Thank you Maddy for your appreciation of my dog walking service and in particular caring for Theo, your gorgeous Cavapoo. You could say Theo is a great crowd pleaser when I take him for our walks in the Botanical Gardens. It's wonderful to see peoples' faces light up with broad smiles when they see Theo coming towards them - such is his remarkable presence and his joie de vivre - so infectious! I have no doubt that much of his joy stems from the way you and Mike have treated him since you became his proud pet parents! For my part I just adore him and always look forward to our walks together.Posted on Google Grace QuantTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is so kind and caring and really takes his time with my nervous dog. I would highly recommend his service
Owner's reply
Thank you Grace. I hadn't looked after a Shih-Poo before although I had cared for one of your neighbour's Cavapoos-Theo. Bella was a little bit shy on our first meeting though she quickly responded to my massages everytime I arrived to take her for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. I love that she always seems to know its me entering your home and just lies there on her back waiting for my cuddles. I really look forward to going on walks with her and letting her sniff her way round the Botanical Gardens. The fact that Bella is so loving and affectionate is a tribute to the way you and your partner love and care for her and I am delighted and feel very proud that you have chosen me to look after her.Posted on Google Jennifer HendersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jennifer. Of course I'm delighted Josh loves me especially since the feeling is mutual. Bearing in mind his background it's truly remarkable that Josh can love. Josh personifies the old adage that love conquers all and I feel sure that the love you have given him has enabled Josh to become the adorable and loving Cocker Spaniel he now is. Josh is a joy to walk and always gives me such a warm welcome with his twirls and fetching me his toy - a truly amazing and loving dog.Posted on Google Anne DargueTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Thank you so much Anne for trusting me to look after Ridley. I had never met a Miniature Labradoodle before and was excited to meet him. I was absolutely bowled over by his cuter than cute appearance and endearing behaviour. Of course as well as being sooo cute he's a wonderful guard dog. When I open your front door he immediately goes on guard growling and barking until he sees me then suddenly his barking stops and all he wants is love - lots of it! I find it difficult to resist taking lots of pictures and videos of him at home and as we walk through the nearby woods. And of course should we met anyone on our walk they fall in love with Ridley immediately. I always find you a pleasure to deal with and look forward to going on many more walks with the ridiculously handsome Ridley!Posted on Google JacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% reliable. My doodle is visibly excited as soon as Derek arrives. Even if I am at home, my dog happily trots off for his walk with Derek. He’s also a fountain of knowledge and ideas. Would highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jacqui. I can't tell you how much I look forward to going on walks with Bolt, your loving and always smiling Goldendoodle. Bolt is a peculiar dog in the nicest possible way. For instance he's the only dog I walk that bears his teeth at me when I arrive to take him out. I quickly realised that unlike other dogs that bear their teeth aggressively Bolt was mimicking me smiling at him because I am always so pleased to see him. Then after smiling at me he promptly lies on his back on your pouffe for his 5 minute massage before we set of on another quest to find people and dogs - such is his insatiable appetite for making new friends. Should a car pull up Bolt is always there waiting to greet the occupants as they get out of the car! Bolt's owner, Jacqui is a joy to deal with and as you'd expect has a great sense of humour just like Bolt!Posted on Google Jan WrightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service from Derek. We got regular updates and lovely videos of our cat Minnie. Derek is caring and spends time fussing over Minnie who clearly loved it! Highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jan for your kind words. Minnie is a really affectionate and beautiful cat and after I've fed and watered her and cleaned her litter I like nothing better than to invite her to lie on my chest and stroke her. Judging by her contented purrs she really appreciates this and I'm pleased that I can bring her some comfort whilst you're on holiday.Posted on Google Erica BradleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Anka for trusting me to take Alma for walks. It's a real pleasure walking Alma. She is such a sweet natured Cocker Spaniel. And I always look forward to receiving a warm welcome from her when I arrive to take her for her walk.Posted on Google Helen TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek provides an excellent, caring service and clearly loves animals. My 2 dogs have very different walking styles and one can be dog reactive at times. Derek did an initial visit to meet the dogs and learn all about them, which was very reassuring. I felt very confident that he understood their needs and would be able to manage them in a caring and competent manner. Both dogs were very pleased to see him each morning for their walks and he sent photos and videos showing the great time they were having. I can certainly recommend him to anyone needing help with their pets!

If you are looking for a local cat sitter in Bents Green, I would love to help. I am Derek Collinson, owner of K9 Time, and I provide professional cat sitting visits right in your cat’s own home across Sheffield, including the S11 postcode area.
As an experienced pet sitter, I provide a high level of personal attention. Whether you have a kitten or a senior moggy, I ensure they receive the best care while you are away.
My cat sitting service is built around keeping your cat calm, comfortable, and settled in familiar surroundings while you are away. Rather than taking your cat to a cattery, I come to your home for regular visits that fit around your cat’s existing routine.
Many owners prefer this to traditional boarding. When you choose me as your pet sitter, you get the expertise of a local cat sitter and the peace of mind knowing your pet is in safe hands.
With more than 40 years of cat care experience, I understand that every cat is different. Some need gentle encouragement, while others just want their food bowl filled and a quiet lap to sit on. I tailor each visit to suit your cat’s personality and needs.
I am fully insured, DBS checked, and a trusted cat sitter serving Bents Green and the surrounding Sheffield areas. I am proud to be one of the local cat sitters providing reliable support to families in the S11 area. If you would like to find out more, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet with no obligation.
As one of the registered pet sitters in the area, I take my responsibilities seriously. This ensures your home and your pets are treated with the utmost respect.
In-Home Cat Care In Bents Green With K9 Time
My cat sitting service in Bents Green is designed to keep your cat relaxed and content at home. Instead of transporting your cat to an unfamiliar boarding facility, I visit your home on a schedule that mirrors your cat’s daily routine.
What My Cat Sitting Service Includes
Each visit covers everything your cat needs to stay healthy and happy. My standard cat care visits include:
Feeding and providing fresh water
Litter tray cleaning and replenishing
Playtime and interaction
Cuddles and attention
Administering medication if required
Photo and video updates sent via the free K9 Time app
I also handle practical tasks around the home, such as watering plants, collecting mail, and taking out the rubbish. These small extras help keep your property looking lived-in while you are away.
Why Home Visits Suit Most Cats Better Than Cat Boarding
Cats are territorial creatures. Moving them to a cattery or boarding facility often causes unnecessary stress. Unfamiliar scents, strange cats nearby, and a change of environment can leave even confident cats feeling unsettled.
With my drop-in visits, your cat stays surrounded by their own scents, favourite sleeping spots, and familiar sounds. This makes a real difference, especially for anxious, shy, or older cats who do not cope well with change.
One Or Two Daily Visits Around Your Cat’s Routine
I typically arrange two visits per day, timed to match your cat’s normal feeding and activity schedule. Whether your cat is an early riser or more active in the evening, I work around what suits them best.
During our initial meet and greet, I take detailed notes on your cat’s routine, preferences, and any health needs. This means from the very first visit, your cat receives consistent, personalised care.
It is important to find a sitter who connects with your feline friend. I use this time to build that initial bond and answer any questions you may have.
Cat Sitting Prices And Visit Options
I keep my pricing straightforward with two visit lengths to choose from. Both options include the same level of care and attention.
Visit Length | Price Per Visit |
|---|---|
15 minutes | £14 |
30 minutes | £20 |
15-Minute Cat Sitting Visits
A 15-minute visit works well for independent cats who mainly need feeding, fresh water, and a clean litter tray. I still make time for a quick fuss and a check that everything is in order around the home.
30-Minute Cat Sitting Visits
The 30-minute visit gives me extra time for play, grooming, or simply sitting with your cat. This is a good option for cats who enjoy company or need a bit more interaction during the day.
This longer visit is also ideal for administering medication that may take a little more time and patience. It also allows me to spend longer on any home tasks you need help with.
What Is Included In Each Visit
Both visit lengths include feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, cuddles, and updates through the K9 Time app. The longer visit simply allows more time for play and companionship.
There are no hidden fees or extra charges. If you would like to discuss which option suits your cat best, I am happy to chat. You can book a free 30-minute meet and greet to go through everything in person before committing to anything.
Why Cat Owners In Bents Green Trust K9 Time
Choosing between different cat sitters is a big decision. Here is why owners looking for local cat sitters in Bents Green feel confident leaving their cats in my care.
40 Plus Years Of Pet Care Experience
I have spent more than 40 years caring for cats, and more than 25 years caring for dogs, and puppies. That experience means I have encountered a wide range of breeds, temperaments, and health conditions. Whether your cat is a confident explorer or a nervous hider, I know how to read their body language and respond in a way that keeps them at ease.
Fully Insured DBS Checked And NarpsUK Member
I am fully insured, DBS checked, and trained in dog first aid. My membership with NarpsUK further demonstrates my commitment to professional standards in pet care.
When you look for registered pet sitters, these credentials are essential. They give you peace of mind that your cat and home are in safe, responsible hands.
Usui Reiki Master Support For Anxious Shy And Senior Cats
One thing that sets my cat sitting service apart is my background as a Usui Reiki Master. This calming energy practice helps create a gentle, soothing presence during my visits. Anxious cats, shy cats, and senior cats often respond positively to this quiet, reassuring energy. I do not force interaction. Instead, I let your cat come to me at their own pace, which builds trust quickly.
Daily Updates Through The K9 Time App
Every visit includes photos, videos, and a detailed report sent straight to your phone through the free K9 Time app. You can see exactly what your cat has been up to, from napping in their favourite spot to chasing a toy across the living room. These daily updates help animal lovers like you feel connected to your cat, even when you are miles away.
What Happens Before And During Your Booking
I make the booking process simple and stress-free for both you and your cat. Here is what to expect from start to finish.
Free 30-Minute Meet And Greet
Before any booking begins, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet at your home in Bents Green. This gives me a chance to meet your cat on their own territory, where they feel most comfortable. It also gives you a chance to ask questions, share any concerns, and decide if I am the right fit. There is absolutely no obligation.
How I Learn Your Cat’s Routine And Home Details
During the meet and greet, I take detailed notes on everything that matters. This includes:
Feeding times, food types, and portion sizes
Litter tray preferences and location
Favourite toys, sleeping spots, and hiding places
Any medical needs or behavioural quirks
Home access details, alarm codes, and emergency contacts
This information means I can step in seamlessly and keep your cat’s day as normal as possible from the very first visit.
Photos Videos And Visit Reports While You Are Away
Once your booking starts, you receive daily updates through the K9 Time app after every visit. Each update includes photos, short video clips, and a written report covering what your cat ate, how they behaved, and how they seemed overall. You will always know exactly how your cat is doing, no matter where you are.
Bents Green Coverage And Nearby Sheffield Areas
I live and work locally, which means I can reach Bents Green quickly and reliably for every scheduled visit.

Bents Green falls within the S11 postcode, which is one of my core service areas. Whether you live close to Bents Green Road or further towards the edges of the neighbourhood, I cover the full area. Extra Help For Your Home While You Are Away
My visits are not just about your cat. I also help take care of small but important tasks around your home while you are away.
Mail Collection Plant Watering And Rubbish Bins
A pile of post on the doormat or overflowing bins can signal that a home is empty. During my daily visits, I bring in any mail, water your houseplants, and take out the rubbish as needed. These small tasks help keep things tidy and running smoothly while you are on holiday or travelling for work.
Keeping Your Home Looking Lived In
Regular visits to your property naturally help with home security. Opening and closing curtains, switching lights on, and simply having someone come and go throughout the day creates the appearance that someone is home. This added layer of security is something many of my Bents Green clients value highly, especially during longer trips.
A Reassuring Alternative To Boarding Facilities
Catteries serve a purpose, but many cats find them stressful. The unfamiliar environment, new smells, and proximity to other cats can cause anxiety and even illness.
With my in-home cat sitting service, your cat stays in their own space. They eat from their own bowls, sleep in their own bed, and follow their normal routine.
For a cat in a flat or a home with limited outdoor access, this consistency is especially important. It is a calmer, kinder alternative that keeps both your cat and your home well looked after.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a cat sitter typically charge per hour?
Cat sitting rates vary across the UK, but most local pet sitters charge between £10 and £20 per visit rather than per hour. When you find a sitter through an agency, there may be extra fees.
My visits in Bents Green are priced at £14 for 15 minutes or £20 for 30 minutes, which keeps things affordable while giving your cat proper care and attention.
What is a fair daily rate for looking after a cat at home?
A fair daily rate depends on how many visits your cat needs. With my typical schedule of two visits per day, you would pay between £28 and £40 per day depending on whether you choose 15-minute or 30-minute visits. This covers feeding, litter tray cleaning, playtime, and updates through the K9 Time app.
Is £30 a day a reasonable price for cat sitting services?
Yes, £30 per day is a reasonable price for professional cat sitting in Sheffield. My two daily 15-minute visits come to £28 per day, which falls right in that range.
While platforms like Cat in a Flat or Rover are popular, choosing a local independent professional means you aren’t just relying on a generic Rover guarantee. You get a trusted cat sitter with over 40 years of experience.
What does a standard cat sitting visit usually include?
A standard visit with K9 Time includes feeding, providing fresh water, cleaning and replenishing the litter tray, playtime, and cuddles. I also send photos, videos, and a written visit report through the app. Practical home tasks like collecting mail and watering plants are included too.
How often should a sitter visit a cat each day while the owner is away?
Most cats do well with two visits per day, which is my typical schedule. This keeps feeding times consistent and gives your cat regular companionship throughout the day. During the meet and greet, I discuss your cat’s specific needs to make sure the visit frequency is right for them.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for helping a cat settle into a new environment?
The 3-3-3 rule suggests a cat may take 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn a new routine, and 3 months to feel fully settled in a new space. This is one reason I recommend keeping your cat at home rather than using a cattery. By staying in their own environment, your cat skips the adjustment period entirely and stays calm from day one.
