Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.

Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Derek has been fantastic with my reactive dog Bronson who loves going out for walks with him! He is so happy while he is out with Derek as I get videos and photos of their adventures! I am quite nervous of people taking Bronson for walks due to him not been good with other dogs but Derek put me at ease and listened to my concerns and reassured me so I felt happy!! Derek is lovely and would highly recommend him for dog walking and other services! Thank you Derek from me and Bronson!!

An excellent quality of service and brilliant work with my Romanian rescue dog. I would highly recommend.

I’m Derek Collinson, and K9 Time is my one-man pet care business, standing out among Sheffield dog walkers by covering South West Sheffield (S7, S8, S10, S11 and S17). Every walk and visit is built around your pet’s routine, temperament and comfort, not around a timetable that suits me.

When you book with me, your dog is never thrown into a mixed pack and your visit is never rushed, because I only ever offer one-to-one care with GPS-tracked updates sent straight to your phone.

I’ve spent more than 25 years working hands-on with dogs, puppies and cats. That experience shapes how I handle nervous rescues, bouncy puppies and elderly pets who just need a gentle bit of company.

Before anything is booked, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet with no obligation attached. It’s a relaxed chat where you tell me about your pet and I answer any questions you have.

You’ll also get a free mobile app with reports, photos and short videos after every service. Whether you’re at the office or abroad, you can see exactly what your pet has been up to.

Pet Care Options With K9 Time In South West Sheffield

My aim is to slot into your day without disrupting your pet’s normal rhythm. Choose from private dog walking, in-home dog sitting, puppy sitting and cat sitting, all with careful attention and regular updates.

One-to-One Dog Walking

Your dog walks with me alone, never in a shared group. The pace, the route and the length are matched to their confidence, energy and behaviour on the day.

You can pick a 30-minute or 1-hour walk, once or twice a day. Every walk is GPS tracked, with a report, photos and videos sent through the app.

In-Home Dog Sitting

Dog sitting lets your dog stay in the home they know while you’re away. It’s a gentler alternative to kennels, with visits covering walks, feeding, fresh water, playtime and plenty of fuss.

Regular drop-ins also keep daily routines ticking over and give your property a lived-in look. Updates arrive through the app after each visit.

Puppy Sitting

Puppy sitting is for little ones up to 16 weeks who need frequent check-ins. I work around their normal routine to help with toilet breaks, feeding, play and early confidence building.

Time is spent both indoors and in the garden, with lots of TLC. Photos and short clips show you how your puppy is settling.

Cat Sitting

Cats do best in their own surroundings, so I come to them. Visits include feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, playtime and quiet company if that’s what your cat prefers.

I’m happy to water plants, put the bins out and collect post too. It’s a level of care that sets me apart from other Sheffield dog walkers.

Pricing For Walks And Home Visits

I keep my rates simple and transparent, so you know exactly what you’re paying before you book. Use the tables below as your starting point when comparing pet care costs with other Sheffield dog walkers.

Why Pet Owners Choose K9 Time

Solo Walks Tailored To Each Dog

I walk one dog at a time, or up to 3 dogs from the same household. That keeps things calm and lets the walk match your dog’s energy level and behaviour rather than the group’s.

This suits dogs who need gentle handling, a steady routine or a bit more space. It also means I get to know your dog properly, which many Sheffield dog walkers simply can’t do with a full van.

GPS Tracking And App Updates

Every walk is GPS tracked, and visit updates land in a free mobile app. Reports, photos and videos show you where your pet went and how they got on.

That detail takes the guesswork out of leaving your pet with someone. It keeps communication clear and easy on both sides.

25 Plus Years Of Hands-On Experience

More than 25 years of pet care sits behind every visit I make. Experience counts when a dog needs calm handling, a routine holding together, or a service that bends to fit their personality.

You’ll notice it from the very first meet and greet.

Holistic Care for Anxious & Reactive Dogs

I’m a Certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in the Usui system of Reiki healing, and I bring that calm, balanced energy to every visit. It’s something few Sheffield dog walkers can offer.

Whether your dog is reactive, a rescue still settling in, or a senior needing reassurance, this holistic approach helps ease separation anxiety and nervous tension. I don’t just walk your dog, I make sure they feel safe and emotionally supported.

Free 30-Minute Meet And Greet

Before we begin, we meet for 30 minutes, free of charge. You can talk me through your pet’s routine, ask anything at all, and see whether I’m the right fit.

There’s no obligation and no pressure. Take your time deciding.

Trusted Local Care And Safety Standards

Fully Insured, DBS Checked, And Dog First Aid Trained

I’m certified with NarpsUK, fully insured, DBS checked and trained in dog first aid. Those checks matter when you’re handing over your keys and your pet.

Ask me for proof at the meet and greet and I’ll happily show you. It’s a fair question and I’d rather you asked.

Care In Your Pet’s Familiar Home Environment

With cat sitting, puppy sitting and dog sitting, your pet never leaves their own space. Familiar smells, familiar beds and familiar windows help keep worry low.

That’s particularly helpful for pets who like quiet or need a stable daily pattern. Life carries on much as normal while you’re away.

Support For Routine, Welfare, And Home Security

Regular visits keep feeding times, toilet breaks and exercise on track. They also mean someone lays eyes on your pet, checks they’re settled and gives them proper attention.

Your home benefits too. Post collected, plants watered and bins taken out all help the place look occupied.

Areas We Cover In South West Sheffield

K9 Time is a genuinely local service covering the south and west of the city. If you live in one of the postcodes below, I can almost certainly help.

Postcodes We Serve

  • S7

  • S8

  • S10

  • S11

  • S17

Not sure whether your street falls inside my patch? Check the Areas We Cover page or just ring me and ask.

Services We Do Not Offer

I keep things deliberately narrow so you know exactly what you’re getting. I don’t run pack walks, dog boarding, pet boarding, doggy day care, pet taxi or pet transport.

I also don’t offer grooming of any kind, wedding chaperone services or 24/7 support. Sticking to walking and sitting is what lets me give each pet proper one-to-one attention.

Ready to Give Your Pet the Best One-to-One Care?

Choosing someone to trust with your home and your pet is a big call. That’s exactly why my meet and greet is free and carries no obligation at all.

We’ll talk through your pet’s routine, any special requirements, and whether we’re a good match. Book Your Free Meet & Greet.

No Pack Walks Or Mixed Group Dog Walks

Your dog will never be added to a mixed group. It’s one-to-one only, or up to 3 dogs from the same household.

Many Sheffield dog walkers rely on group walks to fill their day. I’d rather give your dog space, routine and a calmer hour.

No Dog Boarding Or Pet Boarding

There’s no overnight boarding on offer here. My focus is in-home care, where your pet stays in their own surroundings.

If your dog, puppy or cat settles better at home, that’s a far kinder option. It sidesteps the stress boarding can cause.

No Doggy Day Care, Pet Taxi, Or Grooming

I don’t provide doggy day care, pet taxi, pet transport, grooming or wedding chaperone work. My attention stays on the services that help most with daily routines and time away.

If you need walks, sitting or drop-in visits in South West Sheffield, that’s precisely what I’m set up for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a reliable pet sitter in my local area?

Look for clearly listed services, genuine local coverage, and proof of insurance and DBS checks. In South West Sheffield, you also want someone who sends updates, respects your pet’s routine and meets them before the first paid visit.

What services are typically included in a professional pet sitting visit?

A typical visit covers feeding, fresh water, toilet breaks, playtime and time for comfort and attention. In-home care can also include litter tray cleaning, taking out rubbish, collecting post or watering plants.

How much does overnight pet sitting usually cost?

I don’t offer overnight sitting or boarding, so there’s no overnight rate to quote. Instead you can book dog sitting, puppy sitting or cat sitting visits from £14 for 15 minutes or £20 for half an hour.

Are pet sitters insured and DBS-checked, and should I ask for proof?

Yes, always ask, because it’s the quickest way to check you’re dealing with a professional. I’m NarpsUK certified, fully insured, DBS checked and dog first aid trained, and I’m happy to show the paperwork.

What should I prepare at home before a pet sitter arrives?

Leave food, leads, litter supplies, medication and any care notes somewhere easy to find. It also helps to write down feeding instructions, access details, emergency contacts and anything unusual about your pet’s routine.

Can a pet sitter administer medication and follow special care instructions?

Most sitters can follow clear written instructions for food, rest and basic care. If your pet needs medication or has particular needs, raise it at the free 30-minute meet and greet so we can agree a plan that works.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by services?

Services are the practical tasks I carry out for you and your pet, rather than a physical product you take home. In my case that means walks, home visits and the day-to-day care that keeps your pet happy while you’re out.

What is a list of services?

It’s simply a written breakdown of everything a provider offers, with prices attached. Mine covers one-to-one dog walking, in-home dog sitting, puppy sitting and cat sitting across South West Sheffield.

What kinds of services are available?

Locally you’ll find walking, sitting, boarding, day care, grooming and pet transport spread across different providers. I’ve chosen to stick with walking and in-home visits so each pet gets proper individual attention.

What services do you provide?

I provide solo dog walks of 30 minutes or an hour, in-home dog sitting visits, puppy sitting for pups up to 16 weeks, and cat sitting in your own home. Every one is GPS tracked or reported through the app.

How do I sign in to Planning Center Services?

That’s a church scheduling platform and nothing to do with K9 Time, so I can’t help with it. If you’re after pet care in S7, S8, S10, S11 or S17, that’s very much my area.

How do I use the Services app?

The app I use is a free pet care app that you download after your meet and greet. It sends you walk reports, GPS routes, photos and short videos so you can see how your pet is getting on.
