Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Thank you Nick for taking the time to write a review about my dog walking services - I appreciate it. Scooby is a truly unique dog with a unique and endearing personality. I'm constantly amazed by how he negotiates life with such joy and enthusiasm and a love of all people and dogs. Then when you take into account that he's deaf - you realise that he truly has a wonderful indomitable spirit and serves as an example to we mere humans as to how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Oh and I almost forgot to say that I noticed whilst on my walks with him that he has another ability - to make people smile! Who wouldn't love a dog like Scooby!?Posted on Google![]()

Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Thank you Maddy for your appreciation of my dog walking service and in particular caring for Theo, your gorgeous Cavapoo. You could say Theo is a great crowd pleaser when I take him for our walks in the Botanical Gardens. It's wonderful to see peoples' faces light up with broad smiles when they see Theo coming towards them - such is his remarkable presence and his joie de vivre - so infectious! I have no doubt that much of his joy stems from the way you and Mike have treated him since you became his proud pet parents! For my part I just adore him and always look forward to our walks together.Posted on Google![]()

Derek is so kind and caring and really takes his time with my nervous dog. I would highly recommend his service
Owner's reply
Thank you Grace. I hadn't looked after a Shih-Poo before although I had cared for one of your neighbour's Cavapoos-Theo. Bella was a little bit shy on our first meeting though she quickly responded to my massages everytime I arrived to take her for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. I love that she always seems to know its me entering your home and just lies there on her back waiting for my cuddles. I really look forward to going on walks with her and letting her sniff her way round the Botanical Gardens. The fact that Bella is so loving and affectionate is a tribute to the way you and your partner love and care for her and I am delighted and feel very proud that you have chosen me to look after her.Posted on Google![]()

Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jennifer. Of course I'm delighted Josh loves me especially since the feeling is mutual. Bearing in mind his background it's truly remarkable that Josh can love. Josh personifies the old adage that love conquers all and I feel sure that the love you have given him has enabled Josh to become the adorable and loving Cocker Spaniel he now is. Josh is a joy to walk and always gives me such a warm welcome with his twirls and fetching me his toy - a truly amazing and loving dog.Posted on Google![]()

Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Thank you so much Anne for trusting me to look after Ridley. I had never met a Miniature Labradoodle before and was excited to meet him. I was absolutely bowled over by his cuter than cute appearance and endearing behaviour. Of course as well as being sooo cute he's a wonderful guard dog. When I open your front door he immediately goes on guard growling and barking until he sees me then suddenly his barking stops and all he wants is love - lots of it! I find it difficult to resist taking lots of pictures and videos of him at home and as we walk through the nearby woods. And of course should we met anyone on our walk they fall in love with Ridley immediately. I always find you a pleasure to deal with and look forward to going on many more walks with the ridiculously handsome Ridley!Posted on Google![]()

100% reliable. My doodle is visibly excited as soon as Derek arrives. Even if I am at home, my dog happily trots off for his walk with Derek. He’s also a fountain of knowledge and ideas. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Jacqui. I can't tell you how much I look forward to going on walks with Bolt, your loving and always smiling Goldendoodle. Bolt is a peculiar dog in the nicest possible way. For instance he's the only dog I walk that bears his teeth at me when I arrive to take him out. I quickly realised that unlike other dogs that bear their teeth aggressively Bolt was mimicking me smiling at him because I am always so pleased to see him. Then after smiling at me he promptly lies on his back on your pouffe for his 5 minute massage before we set of on another quest to find people and dogs - such is his insatiable appetite for making new friends. Should a car pull up Bolt is always there waiting to greet the occupants as they get out of the car! Bolt's owner, Jacqui is a joy to deal with and as you'd expect has a great sense of humour just like Bolt!Posted on Google![]()

Excellent service from Derek. We got regular updates and lovely videos of our cat Minnie. Derek is caring and spends time fussing over Minnie who clearly loved it! Highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jan for your kind words. Minnie is a really affectionate and beautiful cat and after I've fed and watered her and cleaned her litter I like nothing better than to invite her to lie on my chest and stroke her. Judging by her contented purrs she really appreciates this and I'm pleased that I can bring her some comfort whilst you're on holiday.Posted on Google![]()

Cat Sitting Dore Sheffield: Trusted Local Care for Your Feline
One-To-One Cat Sitting In Dore, Sheffield
I’m Derek Collinson, the owner of K9 Time, and I provide professional cat sitting Dore Sheffield residents can rely on. As a dedicated Sheffield cat sitter, I look after cats in their own homes across Dore and the wider S17 area. Searching for reliable cat sitters in Sheffield leads many owners to my door because every visit is carried out by me personally. Whether you need cat sitting Dore Sheffield help or pet sitting in Fulwood, I am here to provide reliable care as one of the leading cat sitters Sheffield.
Choosing a Sheffield cat sitter over a local cattery allows your pet to remain in their comfort zone. Instead of moving your cat to a cattery, I come to your home, so your cat keeps its routine and its favourite hiding spots. Each visit covers feeding, fresh water, litter tray care, playtime and plenty of fuss, all shaped around your cat’s normal day.
I’m fully insured, DBS checked and trained in dog first aid, and I’m a registered member of NarpsUK. Photo and video updates come through a free mobile app after every visit, so you always know how your cat is getting on.
Before anything is booked, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet at your home with no obligation. It gives your cat the chance to meet me first, and gives you the chance to ask me anything.
Why Choose In-Home Cat Sitting In Dore
A Calm Alternative To Cat Boarding
Most cats find catteries and cat boarding hard work. Strange smells, other cats close by and a completely new room can leave even a confident cat unsettled.
Unlike other Sheffield cat sitters my cat sitting service takes all of that away. Many Sheffield cat owners find that there is no need for a carrier, car journey or settling-in period, because their pet never leaves the place it feels safest.
For anxious cats, that difference is huge. Alongside my practical experience, I’m a Certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in the Usui system of Reiki healing, and I bring a calm, unhurried presence into your home. Shy, senior and nervous cats tend to respond well to that quiet approach.
Why Cats Settle Better In Their Own Home
Cats are territorial creatures. Even the friendliest cat eats, sleeps and behaves better on its own patch, surrounded by familiar scent markers.
During home cat sitting visits, your cat sets the pace. Nobody forces contact, and nobody drags a nervous cat out from under the bed.
Many of the cats I care for in Dore start off watching me from a distance and end up waiting by the door. Staying home keeps feeding, sleeping and litter tray habits steady, which is exactly what a cat needs while you’re away.
How Regular Drop-In Visits Support Routine
Routine is everything to a cat, so I plan my drop-in visits around your cat’s normal feeding and activity times.
Two visits a day suits most households. Each one follows the same pattern, so your cat quickly learns what to expect and when.
That consistency softens the disruption of you being away. Your cat’s day looks and feels close to normal, which is the whole point of pet sitting at home.
Cat Sitting Prices And Visit Options
My cat sitting prices are simple and published upfront. No booking fees, no surprise extras, no confusing packages.
Visit Length | Price Per Visit |
|---|---|
15 minutes | £14 |
30 minutes | £20 |
15-Minute Visits At £14
A 15-minute visit covers everything essential. Fresh food and water go down, the litter tray gets cleaned, and your cat gets a proper bit of attention before I leave.
This option suits independent cats who are happy with a quick check-in and a quiet stroke.
30-Minute Visits At £20
Half an hour gives me room to slow down. There’s time for a proper play session, extra cuddles, a gentle brush and a fuller check around your home.
If your cat needs medication or simply enjoys longer company, the 30-minute visit is the better fit.
When Two Visits Per Day Work Best
I usually recommend two visits per day. It keeps meals on schedule, the litter tray clean and your cat in regular company rather than alone from morning to night.
Two daily visits also mean somebody is checking your property twice a day, which is reassuring while you’re away.
Not sure which schedule suits your cat? Give me a call for a friendly, no-obligation chat, and I’ll happily arrange a free meet and greet at your home in Dore first.
What K9 Time Includes In Each Visit
Feeding Fresh Water And Litter Tray Care
Every visit starts with the basics. Food goes down exactly as you’ve instructed, water bowls are refreshed, and litter tray care is done properly rather than rushed.
If your cat is on a special diet, has a set feeding order or needs food at a particular temperature, I follow your notes to the letter.
Clean bowls, fresh water and a tidy tray aren’t extras. They’re the foundation of decent cat care.
Playtime Attention And Photo Updates
Once the practical jobs are done, the rest of the visit belongs to your cat. That might be a wand toy session, a gentle brush, or simply sitting quietly nearby while a shy cat decides I’m alright.
After each visit, I send photo and video updates through a free mobile app. Seeing your cat mid-yawn or mid-pounce is often the most reassuring part of a holiday.
Watering Plants Mail Collection And Rubbish
My pet care visits also help your home look lived-in. I’m happy to take care of watering plants, gathering post from the doormat and putting bins out or bringing them back in. While I don’t stay overnight, this provides a similar peace of mind to house sitting for your property. My visits are designed to give you the confidence that comes with professional pet sitting and home security. Many cat sitters in Sheffield focus only on the pet, but I look after the security of your home too, standing out among other cat sitters in Sheffield.
A pile of letters or an overflowing bin is an obvious sign of an empty house. Regular visits quietly deal with that.
Trusted Local Care From K9 Time In Dore, Sheffield (S17)
40+ Years Of Cat Care Experience
I’ve been caring for cats for over 40 years. As one of the most experienced cat sitters in Sheffield, I can read body language quickly, spot early signs that something isn’t right, and adapt to very different personalities.
This isn’t a sideline for me. Pet care is my job and my passion, and every cat in Dore gets the standard of attention I’d want for my own.
My Reiki Master training adds another layer, particularly with cats who find change difficult. A calm, grounded visitor makes a real difference to a nervous cat.
DBS Checked Fully Insured And Dog First Aid Trained
Handing over your house keys takes trust. I’m DBS checked and fully insured with extensive veterinary coverage included for your peace of mind. Unlike the generic Pawshake guarantee offered by booking apps, my service is personal and direct. I am also a registered member of NarpsUK.
Many owners looking on Pawshake find that my independent service offers more consistency and direct communication. Unlike some cat sitters Sheffield owners find online, my credentials are shown upfront.
Direct Owner-Led Service From Derek
Book with K9 Time and you deal with me, not an agency or an app. I take every booking, carry out every visit and send every update myself.
There’s no call centre and no rota of different sitters. Many cat sitters in Sheffield who cat owners book online come and go, whereas your cat’s quirks, medication and hiding spots stay in my head and my notes.
That direct approach means nothing gets lost along the way, and you always know exactly who is walking through your door.
Booking Your Free Meet And Greet
What Happens At The Meet And Greet
I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet at your home with no obligation whatsoever. It lets us both work out whether the fit is right.
I’ll meet your cat and let them come to me in their own time. Some cats appear straight away, others watch from the stairs, and both are perfectly fine.
It’s also your chance to see my credentials, ask about my experience and take your time deciding.
Sharing Your Cat’s Routine And Home Instructions
I’ll ask about feeding times, portion sizes, favourite spots, health needs and general temperament. Little details matter, like which chair is off-limits or which cupboard sends your cat running.
We’ll also cover the practical side of your home: where food is kept, how the locks work, bin days, alarm codes and anything else that keeps visits running smoothly.
The more I know, the closer I can stick to your cat’s normal routine.
When To Book For School Holidays And Busy Dates
School holidays, bank holidays, summer and Christmas are my busiest stretches, and my diary fills early for those dates.
If a trip is on the horizon, get in touch sooner rather than later. Booking a meet and greet a few weeks ahead gives us time to go through everything properly.
It also means your cat has already met me before you leave, which makes that first visit far less strange for them.
Areas K9 Time Covers Near Dore
Alongside Dore, I provide cat sitting in Sheffield across the south west of the city. I frequently visit clients in Ecclesall, Broomhill, and Nether Edge. My pet sitting visits are a great alternative to full-time house sitting for owners who just need their cats and home checked regularly. My service area also includes Totley, Bradway, and Millhouses, as well as Sharrow, and Fulwood. If you are looking for a cat sitter in Dore you can trust, or need help in Millhouses, I am local and available. I cover the S7, S8, S10, S11 and S17 postcodes daily.
Being genuinely local matters. I know the roads and parking in areas like Broomhill and Ecclesall perfectly. This local knowledge sets me apart from the wider pool of cat sitters in Sheffield advertising on national sites.
Looking for pet care a little further out? My Areas We Cover page lists everywhere I travel across the city.
Checking Availability For Your Address
Not sure whether your street falls inside my patch? The quickest answer comes from a phone call.
I’ll confirm your address in a moment. Whether you are in Nether Edge or Dore, we can book a free meet and greet there and then. No pressure, no obligation, just a straight answer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find a reliable Sheffield cat sitter locally?
Look for a cat sitter who is DBS checked, fully insured and happy to meet you and your cat before any booking is confirmed. I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet in Dore so you can check my experience and watch how your cat reacts to me first.
What do cat sitters usually charge per hour or per day?
Most local pet sitters charge per visit rather than per hour or per day. My visits in Dore are £14 for 15 minutes and £20 for 30 minutes, so two visits a day works out between £28 and £40 depending on the length you choose.
Is £25 a day a reasonable rate for cat sitting?
In Sheffield, £25 a day sits at the lower end for two daily visits from a fully insured, DBS-checked sitter. Two 15-minute visits with me come to £28 a day, covering feeding, litter tray care, playtime, photo updates and a check on your home. This competitive pricing makes professional pet sitting an accessible choice for most households.
What should I look for in reviews when choosing a cat sitter?
Pay attention to comments about reliability, communication and how the sitter handled the cats themselves. Mentions of regular photo updates, punctual visits and genuine cat experience, not just dog walking, are all good signs.
What are the red flags to watch out for when hiring a pet sitter?
Be wary of anyone who won’t meet your cat first, can’t show proof of insurance, or dodges questions about their experience. Reluctance to send updates during a booking is another warning sign. I share my credentials upfront and send photos and videos after every single visit.
How do I arrange overnight cat sitting and what does it include?
My service in Dore is built around drop-in visits rather than overnight stays. Most cats do very well with two well-timed visits covering food, fresh water, litter tray care and company. Call me for a no-obligation chat and I’ll suggest the schedule that suits your cat best.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a cat sitter in Dore charge per visit?
My rates are £14 for a 15-minute visit and £20 for a 30-minute visit. Both include feeding, fresh water, litter tray care and time with your cat, with no booking fees added on top.
What is a fair daily rate for cat sitting in Sheffield?
Two visits a day is the usual arrangement, which generally lands between £28 and £40 in this part of the city. That should always include feeding, litter care, attention for your cat and updates sent to you.
How do I find a reliable cat sitter in Dore?
Ask for proof of insurance, a DBS check and membership of a professional body such as NarpsUK. Then insist on a free meet and greet at your home so you can see how the sitter and your cat get on before committing.
What should I look for when choosing a cat sitter?
Look for genuine cat experience, clear pricing and a willingness to follow your written instructions exactly. Regular photo or video updates and one consistent person handling every visit make a big difference to your peace of mind.
Are cat sitters insured and DBS checked?
Not all are, so always ask. I’m DBS checked, fully insured with veterinary cover included, trained in dog first aid and registered with NarpsUK, and I’m happy to show all of it at the meet and greet.
How often should a cat sitter visit my cat while I am away?
Two visits a day suits most cats, keeping meals on time and the litter tray clean. Kittens, senior cats or cats on medication may need more frequent visits, which we can plan together at the meet and greet.
