Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Thank you Nick for taking the time to write a review about my dog walking services - I appreciate it. Scooby is a truly unique dog with a unique and endearing personality. I'm constantly amazed by how he negotiates life with such joy and enthusiasm and a love of all people and dogs. Then when you take into account that he's deaf - you realise that he truly has a wonderful indomitable spirit and serves as an example to we mere humans as to how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Oh and I almost forgot to say that I noticed whilst on my walks with him that he has another ability - to make people smile! Who wouldn't love a dog like Scooby!?Posted on Google Maddy MacdonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Thank you Maddy for your appreciation of my dog walking service and in particular caring for Theo, your gorgeous Cavapoo. You could say Theo is a great crowd pleaser when I take him for our walks in the Botanical Gardens. It's wonderful to see peoples' faces light up with broad smiles when they see Theo coming towards them - such is his remarkable presence and his joie de vivre - so infectious! I have no doubt that much of his joy stems from the way you and Mike have treated him since you became his proud pet parents! For my part I just adore him and always look forward to our walks together.Posted on Google Grace QuantTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is so kind and caring and really takes his time with my nervous dog. I would highly recommend his service
Owner's reply
Thank you Grace. I hadn't looked after a Shih-Poo before although I had cared for one of your neighbour's Cavapoos-Theo. Bella was a little bit shy on our first meeting though she quickly responded to my massages everytime I arrived to take her for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. I love that she always seems to know its me entering your home and just lies there on her back waiting for my cuddles. I really look forward to going on walks with her and letting her sniff her way round the Botanical Gardens. The fact that Bella is so loving and affectionate is a tribute to the way you and your partner love and care for her and I am delighted and feel very proud that you have chosen me to look after her.Posted on Google Jennifer HendersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jennifer. Of course I'm delighted Josh loves me especially since the feeling is mutual. Bearing in mind his background it's truly remarkable that Josh can love. Josh personifies the old adage that love conquers all and I feel sure that the love you have given him has enabled Josh to become the adorable and loving Cocker Spaniel he now is. Josh is a joy to walk and always gives me such a warm welcome with his twirls and fetching me his toy - a truly amazing and loving dog.Posted on Google Anne DargueTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Thank you so much Anne for trusting me to look after Ridley. I had never met a Miniature Labradoodle before and was excited to meet him. I was absolutely bowled over by his cuter than cute appearance and endearing behaviour. Of course as well as being sooo cute he's a wonderful guard dog. When I open your front door he immediately goes on guard growling and barking until he sees me then suddenly his barking stops and all he wants is love - lots of it! I find it difficult to resist taking lots of pictures and videos of him at home and as we walk through the nearby woods. And of course should we met anyone on our walk they fall in love with Ridley immediately. I always find you a pleasure to deal with and look forward to going on many more walks with the ridiculously handsome Ridley!Posted on Google JacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% reliable. My doodle is visibly excited as soon as Derek arrives. Even if I am at home, my dog happily trots off for his walk with Derek. He’s also a fountain of knowledge and ideas. Would highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jacqui. I can't tell you how much I look forward to going on walks with Bolt, your loving and always smiling Goldendoodle. Bolt is a peculiar dog in the nicest possible way. For instance he's the only dog I walk that bears his teeth at me when I arrive to take him out. I quickly realised that unlike other dogs that bear their teeth aggressively Bolt was mimicking me smiling at him because I am always so pleased to see him. Then after smiling at me he promptly lies on his back on your pouffe for his 5 minute massage before we set of on another quest to find people and dogs - such is his insatiable appetite for making new friends. Should a car pull up Bolt is always there waiting to greet the occupants as they get out of the car! Bolt's owner, Jacqui is a joy to deal with and as you'd expect has a great sense of humour just like Bolt!Posted on Google Jan WrightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service from Derek. We got regular updates and lovely videos of our cat Minnie. Derek is caring and spends time fussing over Minnie who clearly loved it! Highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jan for your kind words. Minnie is a really affectionate and beautiful cat and after I've fed and watered her and cleaned her litter I like nothing better than to invite her to lie on my chest and stroke her. Judging by her contented purrs she really appreciates this and I'm pleased that I can bring her some comfort whilst you're on holiday.Posted on Google Erica BradleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Anka for trusting me to take Alma for walks. It's a real pleasure walking Alma. She is such a sweet natured Cocker Spaniel. And I always look forward to receiving a warm welcome from her when I arrive to take her for her walk.Posted on Google Helen TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek provides an excellent, caring service and clearly loves animals. My 2 dogs have very different walking styles and one can be dog reactive at times. Derek did an initial visit to meet the dogs and learn all about them, which was very reassuring. I felt very confident that he understood their needs and would be able to manage them in a caring and competent manner. Both dogs were very pleased to see him each morning for their walks and he sent photos and videos showing the great time they were having. I can certainly recommend him to anyone needing help with their pets!

Why Choose K9 Time For In-Home Cat Care In Lodge Moor
A Stress-Free Alternative To Cat Boarding
Most cats are deeply territorial. Moving them to an unfamiliar cattery, surrounded by strange scents and other animals, can cause significant anxiety. In-home cat sitting removes that stress entirely. Your cat stays in their own territory, sleeping in their favourite spots, eating from their own bowls, and following the routine they know. Professional pet sitting allows for a much smoother transition while you are away.
Cat boarding and dog boarding have their places, but for cats who are shy or elderly, staying home is often better. While some owners use platforms like cat in a flat, my independent service provides consistent, personal care. Your cat’s environment stays the same; only the person providing their care changes.
Calm, One-To-One Visits From Derek Collinson
Every visit is carried out personally by me. There are no subcontractors, no rotating staff, and no strangers appearing at your door. Your cat sees the same face each time, which builds trust quickly.
With over 40 years in cat care, I understand feline body language and know how to approach each cat on their own terms. My background as a dog walker and general pet care professional also gives me a broad perspective on animal behavior. This experience helps me manage any situation that might arise during a visit. I adapt to what your cat needs, whether it’s playtime or quiet company.
Ideal For Nervous, Shy, Or Routine-Led Cats
Cats who hide when visitors arrive or become unsettled by changes in routine benefit most from a consistent, patient approach. My training as a Certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in the Usui system of Reiki healing informs the way I interact with anxious cats. Reiki principles emphasise calm energy, gentle presence, and patience.
This isn’t about performing a treatment on your cat. It’s about carrying that composed, reassuring energy into every visit, helping nervous cats feel safe rather than threatened by a stranger’s presence.
Cat Sitting Prices And Visit Options
K9 Time offers two visit lengths for cat sitting in Lodge Moor, Sheffield. As a premier Cat Sitter Lodge Moor service, I ensure pricing is straightforward with no hidden fees.
Visit Length | Price Per Visit |
|---|---|
15 minutes | £14 |
30 minutes | £20 |
15-Minute Cat Sitting Visits
A 15-minute visit covers all the essentials: feeding, fresh water, and litter tray care. These drop-in visits work well for independent cats who enjoy their own company but need regular practical care. I focus on these visits rather than overnight care for cats to minimize disruption to their territory. Most pet sitters agree that maintaining a home environment is vital for feline comfort.
30-Minute Cat Sitting Visits
The 30-minute visit allows extra time for playtime, companionship, and gentle fuss. It’s ideal for sociable cats or those who need a little more reassurance. There’s also time to handle household tasks like collecting mail or watering plants.
Typical Two-Visit Daily Schedules
A standard cat sitting schedule involves two visits per day. Visit times are arranged to suit your cat’s feeding routine and normal daily rhythm. Morning and evening visits are the most common pattern, though I’m happy to discuss what works best during your free meet and greet.
When you need to find a sitter who understands your cat’s unique personality, a meet and greet is essential. To book your visits or ask about availability in Lodge Moor, get in touch to arrange a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation. It’s the simplest way to get started.
What Is Included In Each Visit
Feeding, Fresh Water, And Litter Tray Care
Every visit covers the practical essentials your cat depends on. I follow your feeding instructions precisely, whether that means wet food, dry food, or a specific combination. Fresh water is provided each time, and bowls are cleaned. Litter trays are cleaned and replenished so your cat always has a tidy, hygienic space.
Playtime, Company, And Gentle Reassurance
Beyond the basics, each visit includes quality time with your cat. That might mean a favourite feather toy, a gentle chin scratch, or simply sitting nearby so your cat feels less alone. For anxious cats, my Reiki-informed approach means I bring a calm, steady presence that helps them relax rather than retreat.
Photo Updates, Videos, And Visit Notes Through The App
Peace of mind comes standard. After each visit, you’ll receive photos, short video clips, and detailed notes through a free mobile app. To access your portal, simply log in to see exactly what your cat has been up to. If you ever forgot account details, the app provides a simple recovery process.
Mail Collection, Plant Watering, And Rubbish Duties
Regular visits also help keep your home looking lived-in while you’re away. This provides some of the benefits of house sitting without having a stranger living in your home. I’m happy to collect post, water plants, and take out the rubbish to support your home security.

A Holistic Reiki-Informed Approach For Anxious Cats
What sets my cat sitting apart is my qualification as a Certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in the Usui system of Reiki healing. This holistic background shapes every interaction with your cat. Anxious or grieving cats who miss their owners respond well to calm, unhurried energy. Rather than forcing interaction, I let your cat set the pace, creating a sense of safety through stillness and patience.

How To Book Your Free Meet And Greet
What We Discuss At The First Visit
Every new client starts with a free 30-minute meet and greet at your home, with absolutely no obligation. This gives me the chance to meet your cat in their own environment, observe their personality, and discuss their routine with you. It also lets your cat become familiar with my scent and presence before any booking begins.
During the visit, I’ll ask about feeding schedules, favourite spots, any health conditions or medications, and how your cat typically responds to strangers. This information shapes exactly how I approach each visit.
Preparing Your Cat’s Routine And Home Instructions
Before your first booked visit, I’ll ask you to leave clear written instructions covering feeding quantities, any supplements or medications, litter preferences, and emergency contact details for your vet. It helps to note where spare supplies are kept and any quirks your cat has, such as a preference for running taps over water bowls.
When To Book For Holidays And Busy Periods
Popular periods such as Christmas, Easter, and the summer school holidays fill up well in advance. If you have fixed travel plans, booking your meet and greet four to six weeks ahead is sensible. For last-minute trips, I’ll always do my best to accommodate you, but early planning guarantees your preferred schedule.
To arrange your free meet and greet in Lodge Moor or anywhere across the Sheffield postcodes listed above, give me a call for a friendly, no-obligation chat about your cat’s needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do cat sitters in the Lodge Moor area typically charge?
Cat sitting rates in Lodge Moor and the wider S10 area vary depending on the provider and visit length. At K9 Time, visits start at £14 for 15 minutes and £20 for 30 minutes. These rates reflect the fully insured, DBS-checked, one-to-one service I provide.
What is a fair amount to pay a cat sitter per visit?
A fair rate depends on the sitter’s qualifications, insurance status, and the level of care included. For a professional, insured cat sitter in Sheffield who provides photo updates, litter tray care, and feeding, £14 to £20 per visit is a reasonable range. Cheaper options may lack insurance or accountability.
How much does a cat sitter cost per hour in Sheffield?
Most cat sitters in Sheffield charge per visit rather than per hour, since cat visits are typically shorter than 60 minutes. At K9 Time, a 15-minute visit costs £14 and a 30-minute visit costs £20. This per-visit pricing keeps things transparent and predictable.
Is £25 a day a reasonable rate for cat sitting?
For a single daily visit, £25 would be on the higher side for a short check-in but could be fair for a longer visit with extra duties. At K9 Time, two 15-minute visits per day would total £28, covering all essentials including feeding, litter care, and photo updates through the app.
Where can I find reliable reviews for local cat sitters near Lodge Moor?
Local community groups for Fulwood and Lodge Moor in Sheffield are a good starting point, as residents frequently recommend pet care providers. Asking neighbours with cats is another reliable method. While some look for a Rover Guarantee, choosing a local, independent professional ensures direct accountability. Look for sitters who are NarpsUK registered, DBS checked, and fully insured for the best protection.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for helping a cat settle in when you’re away?
The 3-3-3 rule is typically applied to rescue cats adjusting to a new home, suggesting it takes roughly 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to feel fully settled. When you’re away on holiday, the same principle of patience applies. A consistent cat sitter who visits at the same times each day helps your cat adjust quickly. For more cat sitting advice, I recommend keeping their environment as stable as possible. If you are a pet lover looking to become a cat sitter, starting with proper certification and insurance is the professional way forward. Professional pet sitters prioritize the safety and comfort of the animals above all else.
