Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Thank you Nick for taking the time to write a review about my dog walking services - I appreciate it. Scooby is a truly unique dog with a unique and endearing personality. I'm constantly amazed by how he negotiates life with such joy and enthusiasm and a love of all people and dogs. Then when you take into account that he's deaf - you realise that he truly has a wonderful indomitable spirit and serves as an example to we mere humans as to how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Oh and I almost forgot to say that I noticed whilst on my walks with him that he has another ability - to make people smile! Who wouldn't love a dog like Scooby!?Posted on Google Maddy MacdonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Thank you Maddy for your appreciation of my dog walking service and in particular caring for Theo, your gorgeous Cavapoo. You could say Theo is a great crowd pleaser when I take him for our walks in the Botanical Gardens. It's wonderful to see peoples' faces light up with broad smiles when they see Theo coming towards them - such is his remarkable presence and his joie de vivre - so infectious! I have no doubt that much of his joy stems from the way you and Mike have treated him since you became his proud pet parents! For my part I just adore him and always look forward to our walks together.Posted on Google Grace QuantTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is so kind and caring and really takes his time with my nervous dog. I would highly recommend his service
Owner's reply
Thank you Grace. I hadn't looked after a Shih-Poo before although I had cared for one of your neighbour's Cavapoos-Theo. Bella was a little bit shy on our first meeting though she quickly responded to my massages everytime I arrived to take her for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. I love that she always seems to know its me entering your home and just lies there on her back waiting for my cuddles. I really look forward to going on walks with her and letting her sniff her way round the Botanical Gardens. The fact that Bella is so loving and affectionate is a tribute to the way you and your partner love and care for her and I am delighted and feel very proud that you have chosen me to look after her.Posted on Google Jennifer HendersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.

Thank you Jennifer. Of course I'm delighted Josh loves me especially since the feeling is mutual. Bearing in mind his background it's truly remarkable that Josh can love. Josh personifies the old adage that love conquers all and I feel sure that the love you have given him has enabled Josh to become the adorable and loving Cocker Spaniel he now is. Josh is a joy to walk and always gives me such a warm welcome with his twirls and fetching me his toy - a truly amazing and loving dog.Posted on Google Anne DargueTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Thank you so much Anne for trusting me to look after Ridley. I had never met a Miniature Labradoodle before and was excited to meet him. I was absolutely bowled over by his cuter than cute appearance and endearing behaviour. Of course as well as being sooo cute he's a wonderful guard dog. When I open your front door he immediately goes on guard growling and barking until he sees me then suddenly his barking stops and all he wants is love - lots of it! I find it difficult to resist taking lots of pictures and videos of him at home and as we walk through the nearby woods. And of course should we met anyone on our walk they fall in love with Ridley immediately. I always find you a pleasure to deal with and look forward to going on many more walks with the ridiculously handsome Ridley!Posted on Google JacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% reliable. My doodle is visibly excited as soon as Derek arrives. Even if I am at home, my dog happily trots off for his walk with Derek. He’s also a fountain of knowledge and ideas. Would highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jacqui. I can't tell you how much I look forward to going on walks with Bolt, your loving and always smiling Goldendoodle. Bolt is a peculiar dog in the nicest possible way. For instance he's the only dog I walk that bears his teeth at me when I arrive to take him out. I quickly realised that unlike other dogs that bear their teeth aggressively Bolt was mimicking me smiling at him because I am always so pleased to see him. Then after smiling at me he promptly lies on his back on your pouffe for his 5 minute massage before we set of on another quest to find people and dogs - such is his insatiable appetite for making new friends. Should a car pull up Bolt is always there waiting to greet the occupants as they get out of the car! Bolt's owner, Jacqui is a joy to deal with and as you'd expect has a great sense of humour just like Bolt!Posted on Google Jan WrightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service from Derek. We got regular updates and lovely videos of our cat Minnie. Derek is caring and spends time fussing over Minnie who clearly loved it! Highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jan for your kind words. Minnie is a really affectionate and beautiful cat and after I've fed and watered her and cleaned her litter I like nothing better than to invite her to lie on my chest and stroke her. Judging by her contented purrs she really appreciates this and I'm pleased that I can bring her some comfort whilst you're on holiday.Posted on Google Erica BradleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Anka for trusting me to take Alma for walks. It's a real pleasure walking Alma. She is such a sweet natured Cocker Spaniel. And I always look forward to receiving a warm welcome from her when I arrive to take her for her walk.Posted on Google Helen TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek provides an excellent, caring service and clearly loves animals. My 2 dogs have very different walking styles and one can be dog reactive at times. Derek did an initial visit to meet the dogs and learn all about them, which was very reassuring. I felt very confident that he understood their needs and would be able to manage them in a caring and competent manner. Both dogs were very pleased to see him each morning for their walks and he sent photos and videos showing the great time they were having. I can certainly recommend him to anyone needing help with their pets!

If you’re looking for a cat sitter Brincliffe cat owners can rely on, I’m Derek Collinson, owner of K9 Time. I am a trusted cat sitter providing a dedicated in-home cat sitting service. As a trustworthy cat sitter, my goal is to keep your cat relaxed in their own surroundings while you’re away. I provide professional pet care for all kinds of animal lovers in the local area. Every visit is tailored to your cat’s individual needs, routine, and personality, so nothing feels out of place for them.
Every visit is tailored to your cat’s individual needs, routine, and personality, so nothing feels out of place for them. I bring more than 40 years of hands-on cat care experience to every single visit, whether your cat is a confident explorer or a shy rescue who needs a gentle touch.
My cat sitting service covers Brincliffe and the surrounding S11 area of Sheffield. I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet before any booking, giving me the chance to learn your cat’s habits and giving you the chance to see if I’m the right fit. There’s no obligation attached.
As a local cat sitter based right here in Sheffield, I keep my service area focused so I can be reliable, punctual, and genuinely attentive. Your cat gets one-to-one care from me personally, not a rotating team of strangers.
In-Home Cat Sitting In Brincliffe, Sheffield
My cat sitting service is built on one simple idea: cats are happiest at home. Rather than uprooting your cat from their territory, I come to them. Each visit follows their established routine, keeping stress to an absolute minimum.
I know the Brincliffe area well, from the quiet leafy streets near Chelsea Park to the homes bordering Brincliffe Edge Woods. It’s a peaceful part of Sheffield, which makes it ideal for in-home cat care. Whether you live in a large Victorian villa or have a cat in a flat, I am familiar with the local layout. I ensure the quiet environment your cat enjoys remains undisturbed during my visits.
A Stress-Free Alternative To Cat Boarding
Cat boarding and catteries can be deeply unsettling for cats. New smells, unfamiliar sounds, and close proximity to other animals can trigger anxiety or loss of appetite. My in-home cat sitting service removes all of that. Your cat stays in their own space, with their own scents and favourite sleeping spots. It’s cat care that works with your cat’s nature, not against it.
Visits Built Around Your Cat’s Normal Routine
When I visit, I follow the routine you’ve set. If your cat eats at 8am and again at 5pm, that’s when I’ll be there. If they prefer a quiet play session before their evening meal, I’ll make that happen. My approach to pet sitting involves arranging visits timed to match feeding schedules and social needs. Consistency is what keeps cats calm, and I take that responsibility seriously.
Ideal For Indoor, Senior, Rescue, And Anxious Cats
Some cats need extra patience and understanding. Indoor cats who rarely encounter new people, senior cats with health needs, and rescue cats all benefit from a gentle approach. My 40-plus years of cat care experience means I’ve worked with cats of every temperament. I take a calm, quiet approach and let your cat set the pace during every visit.
Cat Sitting Prices And Visit Options
I keep my pricing straightforward with two visit lengths to suit different needs. Here’s what I charge for a cat sitter Brincliffe service:
Visit Length | Price Per Visit |
|---|---|
15 minutes | £14 |
30 minutes | £20 |
These prices are per visit, not per cat. If you have multiple cats in the same household, they’re all looked after within the same visit.
£14 For 15-Minute Drop-In Visits
A 15-minute drop-in visit covers the essentials: feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, and a quick check that everything is in order. This option works well for independent cats who are content with shorter interactions but still need reliable daily care.
£20 For Half-Hour Visits
A 30-minute visit gives me time for everything in the shorter visit plus meaningful companionship. I can spend time playing with your cat, giving them fuss and attention, and carrying out additional home care tasks like collecting mail or watering plants. This is the option I recommend for cats who enjoy company or need a bit more looking after.
Typical Daily Visit Schedules For Brincliffe Cats
Most of my Brincliffe cat sitting clients book two visits per day. A common schedule would be one morning visit and one evening visit, timed around feeding. Some owners mix visit lengths, choosing a 15-minute morning check-in and a longer 30-minute evening visit for playtime and companionship.
If you’d like to discuss the right visit plan for your cat, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet with no obligation. Give me a call for a friendly chat about your cat’s needs and I’ll help you work out the best schedule.
What’s Included In Each K9 Time Visit
Every visit I make to your home in Brincliffe follows a thorough routine. Nothing gets missed, and your cat gets genuine one-to-one attention from a pet sitter who truly cares.
Feeding, Fresh Water, And Litter Tray Cleaning
I follow your cat’s exact feeding instructions, whether that’s wet food, dry food, a combination, or a prescription diet. Fresh water is provided at every visit. Litter trays are cleaned and replenished so your cat always has a hygienic space. I also clean food and water bowls as part of the routine.
Playtime, Companionship, And Gentle One-To-One Attention
Your cat isn’t just fed and left. I spend dedicated time engaging with them using their favourite toys, offering gentle strokes, or simply sitting nearby if they prefer quiet company. Every cat is different, and I adjust my approach based on what your cat enjoys.
Photos And Videos Through The Free Mobile App
Peace of mind comes from seeing your cat happy and well. After each visit, I send you photos and videos of your cat through a free mobile app. You’ll also receive a visit report so you know exactly what happened, what your cat ate, and how they seemed. These daily updates mean you’re never left wondering.
Daily Updates And Practical Home Care Support
Beyond cat care, my visits help keep your home looking lived-in while you’re away. I can collect your mail, water your plants, and take out the rubbish. Regular visits at consistent times also support home security, giving the impression that someone is coming and going as normal.
Why Brincliffe Owners Trust K9 Time
Choosing a trusted cat sitter means knowing exactly who is coming into your home and caring for your pet. Here’s why Brincliffe cat owners place their trust in me.
40+ Years Of Cat Care Experience
I have more than 40 years of hands-on experience caring for cats of all ages, breeds, and temperaments. That depth of experience means I can recognise subtle changes in behaviour. I can spot early signs of illness and adapt my approach to suit each individual cat. This isn’t a side job for me; it’s my vocation.
DBS Checked, Fully Insured, And NarpsUK Registered
I am DBS checked, fully insured, and a registered member of NarpsUK. As one of the registered pet sitters in the region, I offer a professional and accountable service. These credentials give you confidence that a verified professional is looking after your cat. I take these responsibilities seriously to remain a trustworthy cat sitter for my clients.
A Calm Approach For Sensitive Cats With Reiki Experience
I’m a Certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in Usui Reiki. This background gives me a calm, grounded presence that sensitive and rescue cats respond well to. I don’t use Reiki as a treatment, but the training has shaped the way I approach nervous animals. My energy is steady and gentle, which helps cats feel safe in my company.
Meet Derek Before You Book
Before any cat sitting booking begins, I want to meet you and your cat in person. This is about building trust and getting the details right from the start.
Free 30-Minute Meet And Greet
I offer every new client a free 30-minute meet and greet with absolutely no obligation. This gives your cat a chance to see me in their home before any booking starts. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and decide whether I’m the right local cat sitter for your needs.
How I Learn Your Cat’s Routine And Home Preferences
During the meet and greet, I take detailed notes on your cat’s feeding schedule, favourite spots, personality quirks, and health needs. I’ll also learn the layout of your home and where you keep supplies. If your cat is a hider, I want to know their usual spots. If they love chin scratches at exactly 6pm, I want to know that too.
Booking The Right Visit Plan For Your Dates
Once we’ve met and you’re happy to go ahead, I’ll help you plan the right visit schedule for your dates. Whether you need two daily visits for a long holiday or occasional check-ins while you’re at work, I’ll tailor a plan that fits your cat’s routine and your budget.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a cat sitter typically charge per hour?
Cat sitting rates in the UK vary, but most professional pet sitters charge between £10 and £20 per visit rather than per hour. My visits in Brincliffe are priced at £14 for 15 minutes or £20 for a 30-minute visit. This per-visit structure keeps costs predictable and fair.
What is a reasonable daily rate for looking after a cat at home?
With two visits per day, you’d pay between £28 and £40 per day depending on visit length. Many Brincliffe clients choose one short and one longer visit, bringing the daily cost to £34. This is often comparable to or less than cattery rates, with far less stress for your cat.
How can I find a trusted, insured cat sitter in my area?
Look for a cat sitter who is DBS checked, fully insured, and listed among registered pet sitters. I’m a registered member of NarpsUK and fully insured. I also offer a free 30-minute meet and greet so you can assess my suitability in person.
How does your service compare to apps with a rover guarantee?
While some people look for the rover guarantee, I offer a direct, personal relationship with my clients. You will always deal with me personally rather than a rotating platform of different people. This ensures consistent, high-quality pet care for your cat every time you away.
What questions should I ask before booking someone to care for my cat?
Ask about their experience with cats specifically, whether they’re insured and DBS checked, how they handle emergencies, and what updates they provide. I always welcome these questions during the free meet and greet. I send photos, videos, and visit reports via a free mobile app after every visit.
What are the warning signs that a pet sitter might not be reliable?
Be cautious of pet sitters who avoid meeting your cat beforehand, can’t provide proof of insurance or a DBS check, or seem vague about their schedule. A reliable cat sitter will be transparent about their credentials, punctual, and happy to answer detailed questions about how they’ll care for your cat.
What does the 3-3-3 rule mean when settling a cat in with a new carer?
The 3-3-3 rule is often used for rescue cats adjusting to new environments. It suggests 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to feel fully settled. When I start visiting a cat in Brincliffe, I apply the same patient approach. Some cats warm up within minutes; others take a few visits. I always let the cat set the pace.
