EXCELLENT Based on 26 reviews Posted on Google Nick AddisonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has looked after our dog for us a couple of times now and he is our go-to person for walking, feeding and company for Scooby. He can always be relied on to arrive at the scheduled times, sending photos, videos and short notes every time which have been a huge comfort while we have been away. Highly recommended

Thank you Nick for taking the time to write a review about my dog walking services - I appreciate it. Scooby is a truly unique dog with a unique and endearing personality. I'm constantly amazed by how he negotiates life with such joy and enthusiasm and a love of all people and dogs. Then when you take into account that he's deaf - you realise that he truly has a wonderful indomitable spirit and serves as an example to we mere humans as to how to enjoy life in the face of adversity. Oh and I almost forgot to say that I noticed whilst on my walks with him that he has another ability - to make people smile! Who wouldn't love a dog like Scooby!?Posted on Google Maddy MacdonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Theo, our lively cavapoo loves Derek! We have never had a dog walker before and didn't want Theo to be 'just one of many' on walks with multiple dogs. Derek came to meet Theo first at home which was great and helped us feel more confident. He is always very responsive and has helped us out last minute at times. The K9 app works really well for booking and reports on the walks too. Cannot recommend highly enough

Thank you Maddy for your appreciation of my dog walking service and in particular caring for Theo, your gorgeous Cavapoo. You could say Theo is a great crowd pleaser when I take him for our walks in the Botanical Gardens. It's wonderful to see peoples' faces light up with broad smiles when they see Theo coming towards them - such is his remarkable presence and his joie de vivre - so infectious! I have no doubt that much of his joy stems from the way you and Mike have treated him since you became his proud pet parents! For my part I just adore him and always look forward to our walks together.Posted on Google Grace QuantTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is so kind and caring and really takes his time with my nervous dog. I would highly recommend his service
Owner's reply
Thank you Grace. I hadn't looked after a Shih-Poo before although I had cared for one of your neighbour's Cavapoos-Theo. Bella was a little bit shy on our first meeting though she quickly responded to my massages everytime I arrived to take her for a walk to the Botanical Gardens. I love that she always seems to know its me entering your home and just lies there on her back waiting for my cuddles. I really look forward to going on walks with her and letting her sniff her way round the Botanical Gardens. The fact that Bella is so loving and affectionate is a tribute to the way you and your partner love and care for her and I am delighted and feel very proud that you have chosen me to look after her.Posted on Google Jennifer HendersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek has walked both my rescue dogs, the most recent arriving just over a week ago. He's been invaluable in helping my new little one settle in with gentle walkies and kindness - even dealing with house training accidents.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jennifer. Of course I'm delighted Josh loves me especially since the feeling is mutual. Bearing in mind his background it's truly remarkable that Josh can love. Josh personifies the old adage that love conquers all and I feel sure that the love you have given him has enabled Josh to become the adorable and loving Cocker Spaniel he now is. Josh is a joy to walk and always gives me such a warm welcome with his twirls and fetching me his toy - a truly amazing and loving dog.Posted on Google Anne DargueTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek is reliable and trustworthy . Easy to book and pay online. Takes great care of our dog both with cuddles, walks, feeding and toileting. Flexible with timings of visits whether it's a lunch time walk while I'm at work or away for the whole day for a family wedding. Our dog loves his time with Derek and we can relax knowing he's in safe hands. One on one care from Derek since he's been a puppy. Derek takes and shares many great photos and videos so I can see how happy my pooch is while I'm not around. Derek is very experienced - would recommend for any age of dog.

Thank you so much Anne for trusting me to look after Ridley. I had never met a Miniature Labradoodle before and was excited to meet him. I was absolutely bowled over by his cuter than cute appearance and endearing behaviour. Of course as well as being sooo cute he's a wonderful guard dog. When I open your front door he immediately goes on guard growling and barking until he sees me then suddenly his barking stops and all he wants is love - lots of it! I find it difficult to resist taking lots of pictures and videos of him at home and as we walk through the nearby woods. And of course should we met anyone on our walk they fall in love with Ridley immediately. I always find you a pleasure to deal with and look forward to going on many more walks with the ridiculously handsome Ridley!Posted on Google JacTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% reliable. My doodle is visibly excited as soon as Derek arrives. Even if I am at home, my dog happily trots off for his walk with Derek. He’s also a fountain of knowledge and ideas. Would highly recommend.

Thank you Jacqui. I can't tell you how much I look forward to going on walks with Bolt, your loving and always smiling Goldendoodle. Bolt is a peculiar dog in the nicest possible way. For instance he's the only dog I walk that bears his teeth at me when I arrive to take him out. I quickly realised that unlike other dogs that bear their teeth aggressively Bolt was mimicking me smiling at him because I am always so pleased to see him. Then after smiling at me he promptly lies on his back on your pouffe for his 5 minute massage before we set of on another quest to find people and dogs - such is his insatiable appetite for making new friends. Should a car pull up Bolt is always there waiting to greet the occupants as they get out of the car! Bolt's owner, Jacqui is a joy to deal with and as you'd expect has a great sense of humour just like Bolt!Posted on Google Jan WrightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent service from Derek. We got regular updates and lovely videos of our cat Minnie. Derek is caring and spends time fussing over Minnie who clearly loved it! Highly recommend.
Owner's reply
Thank you Jan for your kind words. Minnie is a really affectionate and beautiful cat and after I've fed and watered her and cleaned her litter I like nothing better than to invite her to lie on my chest and stroke her. Judging by her contented purrs she really appreciates this and I'm pleased that I can bring her some comfort whilst you're on holiday.Posted on Google Erica BradleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Anka for trusting me to take Alma for walks. It's a real pleasure walking Alma. She is such a sweet natured Cocker Spaniel. And I always look forward to receiving a warm welcome from her when I arrive to take her for her walk.Posted on Google Helen TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Derek provides an excellent, caring service and clearly loves animals. My 2 dogs have very different walking styles and one can be dog reactive at times. Derek did an initial visit to meet the dogs and learn all about them, which was very reassuring. I felt very confident that he understood their needs and would be able to manage them in a caring and competent manner. Both dogs were very pleased to see him each morning for their walks and he sent photos and videos showing the great time they were having. I can certainly recommend him to anyone needing help with their pets!

If you are looking for a cat sitter in Broomhill, Sheffield, I provide professional, in-home cat sitting visits that keep your cat relaxed in familiar surroundings while you are away. My name is Derek Collinson, and I run K9 Time, a dedicated pet care service based in Sheffield. As a trusted cat sitter, I pride myself on providing a reliable and professional experience for every owner.
Every visit is tailored to your cat’s individual routine, personality, and needs, so nothing changes except that I am the one looking after them. I bring more than 40 years of cat care experience to every home I visit, and I understand how much consistency matters to cats.
I cover the leafy streets of Broomhill and the surrounding Sheffield areas, offering flexible 15-minute and 30-minute drop-in visits. Whether you are near the University buildings or the quieter roads heading toward the Botanical Gardens, I am locally available. If you need a local cat sitter who understands the unique charm of S10, I am here to help.
You will receive photos, videos, and updates through my free mobile app after each visit. This gives you complete peace of mind while you are away from your home in S10.
Before anything is booked, I offer a free 30-minute meet and greet with no obligation. This gives me a chance to meet your cat, learn their habits, and make sure you feel confident in the care I provide.
Why Choose K9 Time For In-Home Cat Care In Broomhill, Sheffield
A Calm Alternative To A Cattery
Cats are creatures of habit. Moving them to an unfamiliar cattery can cause stress, anxiety, and behavioural changes that take days or weeks to settle. My cat sitting service removes that disruption entirely. Your cat stays at home with their own bed, their favourite window, and their usual feeding schedule. I come to them, keeping everything as normal as possible.
In-home care also means no exposure to other animals, no shared litter trays, and no competition for space. For indoor cats, elderly cats, or cats with medical needs, this approach is far gentler than any cattery environment. Many owners find that cat boarding is simply too overwhelming for their pets compared to staying in their own space.
Owner-Led Care With 40+ Years Of Cat Care Experience
When you book with K9 Time, I am the person who visits your cat. There is no rota of unfamiliar carers. I personally handle every visit, bringing over 40 years of hands-on cat care experience to your home in Broomhill.
That depth of experience means I can recognise subtle changes in behaviour, appetite, or health that a less experienced sitter might miss. It also means I know how to build trust quickly with shy or independent cats. While some owners occasionally look for overnight care for cats, my frequent drop-in visits are often the ideal solution to maintain a happy home life.
Reiki Support For Nervous, Reactive, Or Senior Cats
I am a certified Third Degree Master Practitioner in the Usui system of Reiki healing. This is a gentle, non-invasive energy therapy that can help calm nervous, reactive, or senior cats during visits.
Reiki is not a substitute for veterinary care, but it can ease tension and help anxious cats feel more comfortable when their owner is away. For older cats dealing with stiffness or discomfort, it offers a soothing complement to their normal care routine.
Cat Sitting Visits And Prices
What Is Included In Each Visit
Every cat sitting visit includes feeding, providing fresh water, cleaning and replenishing the litter tray, and giving your cat plenty of fuss, attention, and playtime. I also send photo and video updates through my free mobile app so you can see exactly how your cat is doing. These regular photo updates ensure you never feel disconnected from your pet.
Beyond cat care, I can help with practical tasks around the home. This includes watering plants, collecting mail, and taking out rubbish. I can even feed the fish or look after other small pets, helping your property look lived-in while you are away.
Typical Visit Frequency For Cats In Broomhill
For most cats in Broomhill, I recommend two visits per day. This ensures your cat is fed on schedule, has clean water throughout the day, and gets regular human contact and stimulation.
If your cat has specific medical needs or simply prefers more company, I can adjust the visit schedule to match. Everything is discussed during the initial meet and greet. I provide personalised quotes based on your specific requirements to ensure the care fits your budget.
15-Minute And 30-Minute Pricing
Visit Length | Price Per Visit |
|---|---|
15 minutes | £14 |
30 minutes | £20 |
All prices are per visit, not per cat. If you have more than one cat in your Broomhill home, the same visit price applies.
To arrange your free 30-minute meet and greet, or to discuss your cat’s needs with no obligation, give me a call. I am always happy to have a friendly chat about what would work best for your cat.
What Happens During Your Cat’s Visits
Feeding, Fresh Water, Litter Tray Care, And Playtime
Each visit follows the routine you set out for me. I feed your cat at their usual times, using the food and portions you specify. Fresh water is provided every visit. Litter trays are cleaned and replenished so your cat always has a tidy space.
Playtime is part of every visit too. Whether your cat loves chasing a feather wand or prefers a quiet cuddle on the sofa, I match the interaction to their personality. This keeps them mentally stimulated and helps reduce any feelings of loneliness.
Updates Through My Free App With Photos And Videos
After every visit, I send a detailed update through my free mobile app. This includes photos and videos of your cat, plus notes on how they ate, how they seemed, and anything worth mentioning.
These updates are sent automatically, so you do not need to chase me for information. Whether you are on holiday abroad or simply at work for the day, you can check in and see your cat looking comfortable and content.
Extra Help Around The Home While You Are Away
While I am at your home, I can take care of small practical tasks that help with home security and general upkeep. This includes collecting post from the doormat, watering indoor and outdoor plants, and putting out the rubbish on collection day.
These small touches make a real difference when you are away for several days. A home that looks occupied is less likely to attract unwanted attention, and you return to a tidy space rather than a pile of post and wilting plants.
Trust Signals And Safety Checks
Fully Insured, DBS And Police Checked
I am fully insured for all pet care visits, giving you financial protection and peace of mind. I am also DBS checked and police checked, which means my background has been formally verified. These checks are standard practice for any trusted pet care provider. Unlike large platforms where you find a carer online, I offer safe online payments and have passed rigorous carer checks.
NarpsUK Membership And Professional Standards
I am a registered member of NarpsUK (the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters). This membership reflects a commitment to professional standards in pet care, including ongoing accountability and adherence to best practice guidelines.
I am also trained in canine first aid, which broadens the range of situations I am prepared to handle across all the pet care services I offer.
Meet And Greet Before Booking
Every new client receives a free 30-minute meet and greet before any booking is confirmed. This visit takes place in your home, so I can meet your cat on their own territory, learn their habits, and understand any specific requirements.
There is no obligation attached. If you feel it is not the right fit, there is no pressure to proceed. This step exists to make sure both you and your cat are comfortable before we begin.
Broomhill Coverage And Nearby Sheffield Areas
Cat Sitters In Broomhill And Nearby Neighbourhoods
I regularly visit cats across the S10 postcode, from the bustling heart of the Broomhill shopping area to the quieter residential edges. Because I am a local, owner-operated service, I can offer consistent visit times and reliable coverage across this part of Sheffield.

When In-Home Visits Suit Flats, Houses, And Multi-Cat Homes
In-home cat sitting works well for every type of property. Whether you live in a Victorian villa, a terraced house, or have a cat in a flat, your pet benefits from staying in surroundings they trust. My service is adaptable to all types of homes.
For multi-cat households, drop-in visits are especially practical. I can manage different feeding requirements, separate litter trays, and varying personalities within a single visit. The pricing remains the same regardless of how many cats live in your home.
Booking Your Cat Sitting Service With K9 Time
How To Arrange Your Free 30-Minute Meet And Greet
Getting started is straightforward. Call me for a friendly, no-obligation chat about your cat’s needs. Many people use sites like Tailster to find a cat sitter, but booking directly offers a more personal and consistent service. We will find a convenient time for me to visit your home in Broomhill, meet your cat, and go through everything together. The meet and greet lasts around 30 minutes and is completely free.
Discussing Your Cat’s Routine And Preferences
During the meet and greet, I will ask about your cat’s feeding schedule, food preferences, litter tray habits, personality, and any health conditions. I also want to know about their favourite spots in the house, their temperament with strangers, and anything that helps or unsettles them.
This information shapes every visit. My goal is to replicate your routine as closely as possible, so your cat barely notices you are away.
What To Prepare Before Your First Visit
Before your first visit, please make sure I have access to your home (a spare key works best), along with enough food, litter, and any medication your cat needs for the duration of your time away.
It helps to leave written notes covering feeding amounts, medication timings, and your vet’s contact details. I will also ask for an emergency contact in case anything unexpected comes up. Once everything is in place, you can leave knowing your cat is in caring hands. While big apps might offer a Rover Guarantee, a local independent professional provides a different level of accountability.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I pay someone to look after my cat while I’m away?
Prices vary depending on the provider and the length of each visit. At K9 Time, my cat sitting visits in Broomhill start at £14 for a 15-minute visit and £20 for a 30-minute visit. These prices cover all cats in your household per visit.
Do cat sitters charge per visit, per hour, or per day?
Most cat sitters, including myself, charge per visit rather than per hour or per day. Each visit at K9 Time is either 15 minutes (£14) or 30 minutes (£20), and I typically recommend two visits per day to maintain your cat’s routine.
How do I find a cat sitter for my specific area and what do you cover?
If you are looking to find a carer for your pets, I cover Broomhill and a wide range of Sheffield areas across postcodes S7, S8, S10, S11, and S17. This includes neighbourhoods such as Crookes, Crosspool, Ecclesall, Endcliffe, Ranmoor, Dore, Totley, Nether Edge, and many more. If you are unsure whether I cover your area, just get in touch.
What checks should I do before booking a pet sitter?
Always confirm that your pet sitter is fully insured, DBS or police checked, and a member of a recognised professional body. I am all three: fully insured, DBS and police checked, and a registered member of NarpsUK. I also offer a free meet and greet so you can assess me in person before committing.
What are the common red flags to watch out for when choosing a pet sitter?
Watch out for sitters who refuse to meet your cat beforehand, cannot provide proof of insurance or background checks, or offer no updates during visits. A reliable cat sitter should welcome questions, provide references or credentials, and send regular photo and video updates. I provide all of this as standard through my free mobile app.
What is the 3-3-3 rule for helping a cat settle in and feel comfortable?
The 3-3-3 rule suggests that a cat may need 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, and 3 months to feel fully at home. This rule typically applies to cats moving to a new environment. With my in-home cat sitting service in Broomhill, your cat stays in their own home, so there is no adjustment period needed at all.
